Laserfiche VS 11 - OWA (Outlook Web Access) Document Attaching

asked on August 12, 2024 Show version history

The Windows locally installed version of Microsoft Outlook works just dandy when attaching Laserfiche documents from within the Laserfiche application.

I'm trying to migrate my users away from the locally installed Outlook application and have them use the Office 365 Outlook online application via a web browser.

At this time I'm unable to find a relatively easy way to have these users be able to automatically share a Laserfiche document using Office 365 Outlook similar to how the locally installed version of Outlook works.

Any suggestions?  Am I missing something simple?

I'm currently using Laserfiche Avante version 11.

Thank you,

JW

Hi Jason,

We have a Laserfiche Outlook Add-in for Microsoft 365 that uses Microsoft's new "Add-in" architecture for the Office web apps. It's currently only available for Laserfiche Cloud.

The primary (but not only) technical reason is that the Add-in relies on the Laserfiche Repository API v2, which is not yet available for Self-hosted systems. We tentatively hope to release an update for the self-hosted Laserfiche API Server that adds the v2 Repository API in 2025 H1. That update will lay the foundation for bringing the Laserfiche Outlook Add-in for Microsoft 365 to self-hosted Laserfiche systems.

I'm unfortunately not aware of any workaround for attaching repository docs to emails in the meantime. Hopefully you won't be waiting too long in the grand scheme since important groundwork for this is already underway.

Alternatively, look into migrating to Laserfiche Cloud. From the basic info I can see about your system (license count etc.), you may be a good candidate for an easy migration. We have a new Laserfiche Cloud Migration Readiness Assessment Tool that can analyze your Forms and Workflows and give you an idea of how much effort might be required to migrate them.

Hope that info helps.

Cheers,
Sam
