Receiving "Template does not have field definition" error, even though template field exists

asked on August 2, 2024

We're using LF 10.4 and have set up template with fields that match several of our model objects.  Our 'Permit' template has a field called ProjectName, and when a permit document is uploaded with a value for the ProjectName field we get the error (see attached screenshot for error text).  If a permit document is uploaded with no ProjectName value, the document is saved without error.

The template definition has ProjectName included (see template screenshot), not sure what the problem could be.  Anyone else had this issue?

Under rare circumstances, it's possible for an in-memory cache to deviate from what is stored in sql, which can result in inconsistent information like this. So I would suggest restarting the LFS service on the Laserfiche server as a quick troubleshooting step.

Beyond that, where exactly are you seeing that error message? "Error saving file" is a message in scanning, but the capitalization differs from what is in your screenshot, and I'm having trouble finding a match for the second part of the message. Can you provide a larger capture of the error message that includes more application context?
