Question

WebClient New Document Popup Location

asked on August 1, 2024

When users are splitting pages out to new documents in WebClient 11, the "New Document" popup windows shows directly in the middle of the screen, blocking the selected page behind it.  This popup does not allow resizing or moving.

As the user splitting the pages often needs to fill template fields for the new document by viewing the selected page, this is considerably slowing down the process. They have a work-around in place of opening the document in two tabs and viewing the tabs side-by-side while they do the splitting but this is not a permanent solution.  Is there a way change the location of this popup?  If not in the current version, is there a way in the upcoming version 12?

Hi Beau,

There may be a way to adjust if you check out the user attributes - some of them are linked to positioning of different panels as well as defaults like starting metadata tab. They can be accessed through Management > Users. If you need to push an adjusted attribute out globally, you can download it and import it to the Everyone user - be cautious with what you edit though - some of them can change user-set defaults. if you have a test environment I'd recommend trying it out there.

the list of trustee attributes is here: https://doc.laserfiche.com/laserfiche.documentation/11/administration/en-us/Default.htm#../Subsystems/Default/Content/B_Feature%20Topics/attr_list.htm?TocPath=Trustee%2520Attributes%257CLists%2520of%2520Trustee%2520Attributes%257C_____0

Hopefully this helps, that sounds like a frustrating issue.

That was a great idea but I wasn't able to track down any attributes to adjust that specific popup.  Though I did find some attributes I was unaware of that can resolve other issues.  So I call that a win.  Thanks for the suggestion!
