Question

Email doesn't trigger workflows

asked on July 13, 2024

Hello everyone.

I use Laserfiche Email Archive (v11) to import my emails into Laserfiche.

I would have liked to store my emails in the destination folder "Repository\%(EmailSender)\%(EmailReceivedTime#"yyyy "#)".

However, instead of having a folder like "Repository\Sender\2024" I have "Repository\Sender\%(EmailReceivedTime#"yyyy "#)".

By necessity, I thought I'd do it by Workflow (v10.4.2). Except that workflow doesn't start for an email.

It seems that the workflow doesn't consider an email as a document. I also tried to indicate only the path, but without success.

How can I run a workflow from an email?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Hi Olivier,

To have a folder like "Repository\Sender\2024", try "Repository\Sender\%(EmailReceivedTime;yyyy)"

The email should be considered to be a document by workflow without extra steps. If it happens, please create a support case.

You can check the Subscriber Trace to see how the email creation was evaluated against starting rules. Rules take up to 30 seconds to become active in the Subscriber after publishing them.

Hello Miruna.

Thanks for the tip; it helped me a lot. I noticed that when the emails are saved in the repository, the emails are marked “locked” and I guess they are locked by the “Email Archive” because the fields are not filled in.

I can unlock emails when I stop the “Email Archive” service and my workflow only starts when the emails are unlocked. So I conclude that the problem is not with the workflow but with the Email Archive.

Email Archive will unlock the documents on its own when it's done.
