I often move files using Windows and manually update the database due to migrations and the like. However today I was wanting to move some volumes with the service online. So I did it the more practical way and used the interface.

In doing so I found the files are never moved, even after a progress bar showing success.

After the moving progress completes for each volume, all I see is this

If I go to the original source, I see the missing files

If I try to open a document from this volume, I get this message

If I then go into Windows to drag the files to the location they were supposed to be moved to, then the message goes away and I can open the file in Laserfiche again. The files are just not being moved! What was the system doing when progressing though the progress bar?

I found it does actually move the files for logical volumes, but just not fixed volumes. Logical volumes we always move by hand though because the interface is so difficult to use, you can not select all child objects and move them in one shot, instead you end up with tons of progress bars and windows open.
