Question

Conditional Parallel Only Acts on First Branch

asked on June 28, 2024

Hello,
Please can someone please help
I have a workflow that sends either of two mails depending on the Option that is chosen in a Metadata Field. For Instance, If a User chooses High Priority in Document Priority Field, an email with High Priority In the Subject Header will be sent. On the other hand, if the User chooses Low Priority another mail will be sent.

I used Conditional Parallel to create the two branches and set the conditions for each to the choise that is selected.

Now the High Priority is the first branch of the Conditional Parallel  The problem is that when High Priority is chosen the mail goes but never when Low Priority is chosen. So its like only the first branch is executed and never the second.

This is the condition

Can someone please help as only the first branch is executed and never the second branch even when the condition for the second branch is fulfilled

If I'm understanding correctly, you're always wanting only one of the two options to be completed, correct? Either a high priority email or a low priority email. In this case, is there a reason you're not using a Conditional Decision rather than a Conditional Parallel?

I would recreate using a Conditional Decision, with the first branch having the conditions for High Priority being selected, and the second branch sending a Low Priority email if the conditions for the first branch are not satisfied. You shouldn't need to set any conditions for the second branch, as the workflow will only go that route if the first route is not taken.

Let me know if you're still running into issues and I can try to help!

Hello Sarah. Its actually working now. Actually it was configured just the way you described. I actually restarted the Laserfiche subscriber, the workflow and suddenly it started working again. I didn't make any changes other than doing just this and its been working ever since.

Really,   I cant really say if this is what got it working because I had restarted these  services previously and it didn't work. But now everything works.

Thank you so much for all your feedbacks here. Very much apprecited.

Hi Adeyemi,

Please check the instance, and go to Condition tab, check the evalated result in the tab, see screenshot below, and then check Workflow tab to check which branch goes.

Thanks,
