Question

inactive user tasks

asked on June 13

Hello,

We are working on our offboarding process. If a user is inactivated, what happens to their open tasks?

Thanks!

Nothing happens to them, and they will all need to be manually re-assigned. We are aware of this limitation and are working out a better way to bulk re-assign tasks for use cases like this.

Oh, please say this will be able to be done using a Workflow activity. Please, please, please.

The first iteration will likely be better frontend support in the inbox/monitoring pages. What would your use case be for workflow? You would need to get the instance ids to do anything in bulk

I made a feature request back in Dec 2022 that has a use case with it: Feature Request: Workflow Activity to Reassign Forms Tasks - Laserfiche Answers

Makes a lot more sense in the context of a vacation approval form rather than one off administration tasks

Another use case for us is that we have a lot of users that approve invoices. Being a company of over 150,000 employees we get the occasional turn over and promotions or change of positions. We have around 2,300 approvers, so every week we have changes that need to be made to our approval matrix and who invoices are currently assigned to for approval. If we were able to query those positions that have changed using Workflow and then have Workflow find all user tasks for a specific process and even task, it could then reassign them to the new user. This would help automate the entire process for us instead of having to reassign 10-20 employees tasks each week.
