Question

Workflow Administration Console will not start on remote machine if it can't find a server

asked on June 4, 2024

I have Workflow Administration Console installed on my workstation, I decommissioned an old workflow server without removing the server in the Workflow Administration Console.  Now I cannot start the Workflow Administration Console and get an error in the event log.

Event Log error:

Laserfiche.Workflow.WorkflowServerNotFoundException: Connection to the Workflow Server 'decommissioned servername' could not be created. ---> System.ServiceModel.EndpointNotFoundException: No DNS entries exist for host decommissioned servername. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: No such host is known

Is there a local config file that I can edit to remove the reference to this no longer existing server so that I can use Workflow Administration Console?

Open %Appdata%\Laserfiche\WF\managementConsole.xml in a text editor and remove the non-existent servers.

Thanks, that worked.

As a future enhancement, could the Workflow Administration Console at least open and display an indication on the unreachable server like the Administration Console does?

Apologies, Juan posted the workaround and forgot to say it's a known bug. We'll address it for next release. Reference ID #390565.
