How to delete pdf portion when in Web Access or WebView

asked on May 9, 2024

I know how to get rid of the pdf portion when in the Desktop Client, but I also need to provide instructions to some of our users that are using Web Access and I cannot find how to do that in Web Access.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

For clarification, we normally only want the tiffs saved in our repository and do NOT retain any pdf or Word/Excel portions of any entries that are brought in.  We have used automation in most cases to control this, however, we still sometimes have people bypassing that automation and bringing in these pdfs and word docs.

If nothing at all happens when you pick Manage Electronic File, then you probably get to open a support case so we can troubleshoot, unfortunately.  You might try opening up the browser's dev tools (F12 or Ctrl+Shift+I in most browsers) before trying it again and see whether any messages show up in the console when you pick it (and if there's something seemingly related, you could post it), but other than that I have no suggestions.

To answer Jacob's question: yes, as far as I know it's single-entry only in the web client for now.

In the web client, you want to select the document in the folder browser and then find the "Manage Electronic File" action, typically under Advanced in the toolbar:

this will open a dialog that will allow you to replace or delete the electronic file (in your case, the PDF).

Hi Andrew,

If I select multiple documents at once, that option disappears. Is this only a one-by-one thing at the moment?

Thanks, Andrew.  I did find the Manage Electronic File option and picked it, but nothing happened.  No other dialog window opened.  Where do I look and what do I look for?

Okay, thanks, Andrew.  Your last comment prompted me to try this on Edge instead of Chrome and it worked in Edge!  So it is an issue with the settings in Chrome.  Thanks for your help!

It's interesting that this works for you in Edge and not Chrome, given that they are essentially the same browser. I wonder if the cause was an outdated cache or something like that, you might try experimenting with a Chrome incognito window.
