Question

How to limit bandwidth usage when migrating larger repositories to Laserfiche Cloud

asked on April 10

We are migrating two legacy document management systems to Laserfiche Cloud. For the initial migration we are moving to a temporary on-prem Laserfiche system. Once the two systems have been migrated to the on-prem Laserfiche system we will migrate to Laserfiche cloud. The current plan is to use the Export Client to migrate to the cloud. The estimated volume size to be uploaded to the cloud is just short of 1TB. The client has express concerns with bandwidth usage during the upload. Given that this upload will take considerable time they expect it will impact other business processes. My question is if there is a way to limit bandwidth usage with the Export Client. We could limit the time the bandwidth was used by creating briefcases, but this would require considerable time and extra disk space. I'm curious how others have tackled this issue.

Thanks.

In the Repository Export Client, you can configure the upload speed if network bandwidth is a concern. See https://doc.laserfiche.com/laserfiche.documentation/en-us/Default.htm#repositoryimport.htm and refer to step 5 under the "Performing the Migration" section.

I missed that when reading through the docs. I re-read the KB expanding the screenshots as I went. (pictures are worth several words :)  Much appreciate the quick reply.  Thanks!
