Question

Why is the Workflow Database Maintenance Timer Setup the Way it is?

asked on April 10, 2024

We did a new install of Laserfiche Workflow a few months ago and I noticed that the Database Maintenance Timer is set to run at 2:00 AM Sun-Sat and repeat every 1 hour until 2:15 AM. Is there a reason the repeat is set?

We are using Workflow 11.0.2306.898.

If I remember correctly, it was our attempt to both show people it has repeat options and ensure that it will not keep running during "normal" hours.

Database Maintenance Timer is a feature available since Workflow 9. It deletes the old workflow reporting data, instance details and messages from Workflow database. Periodically deleting this data will hep reduce the size of your database, as stated in https://doc.laserfiche.com/laserfiche.documentation/11/administration/en-us/Default.htm#../Subsystems/LFWorkflow/Content/Resources/Admin%20Console/Database_Maintenance_Timer.htm

Thank you. I understand what it is, but I don't understand why the repeat option is selected when it will never repeat the way it is configured?

I think the default setting makes Workflow to perform a daily maintenance (repeat once) at the time people have dreams.
