Feature Request- Cloud - Default edit option to Office 365/Office Online. Restrict option to 'Edit on your desktop'

Currently, users with access to edit Office Documents in the Cloud can edit the document using 'Microsoft Online' or 'Edit on Your Desktop.'  We have a request/use case where a customer would like the ability to restrict users from being able to select the 'Edit on your desktop' option. It does not appear this can currently be done. Is this something that can be incorporated in the future?

Curious what their reasoning is for wanting to restrict it?

They would like to restrict the option from the standpoint of having all their users collaborate in the same way. They are running into an issue where one person may be making changes on Microsoft Online while another is working with the desktop client. They realize that a clever user could get around the restriction, but they would prefer to use the restriction as more of a guiding light for their users.
