Question

Self-hosted Forms and Workflow - input variables

asked on January 8, 2024 Show version history

In Cloud - when you have Workflow input variables, these are available in a Forms Business Process so that you can populate them from a Workflow Service Task.

In Self-hosted it seems this is unavailable; even if the workflow being launched has Input Variables, they do not show in the Forms Business Process Workflow Service Task.

Is that correct?

If it is correct - is this functionality coming to Self-hosted; or do we need to keep using Retrieve Business Process Variables?

Thanks.

There are no immediate plans to remove Retrieve Business Process Variables activity from self-hosted and move its functionality into input parameters.

OK thanks Miruna.

I would like to request it as a Feature though - it's very good for making small, re-usable workflows that can be called from many different business processes. This is what we're doing more and more in Cloud and it's very efficient.

I know we can essentially do similar things with inputs/outputs from workfow <-> workflow in self-hosted, but just find it easier to set-up in the Business Process designer and it feels more like the natural place to do it (i.e. like it is in Cloud).
