pdf import optimized for reduced file size

HI Everyone

most of our users do not reduce file size of pdf's when importing to Laserfiche. I am hoping there is an option setting somewhere to import pdfs as reduced file size if not we may need to make it a manual process. has anyone else dealt with this issue?

Hi Larry,

This is also a common problem for TIFs and other scanned images. I wrote code to convert images to TIF-JPEG and to resample PDFs. It's one of those "use at your own risk" type approaches because there's always a risk (a small one) that using lossy compression - or reducing DPI - can cause permanent loss of information.

The code is available as a desktop utility, for batch runs, or a Workflow Activity, for ad-hoc conversion.
