Audit Trail 11 LFFTS Catalog Files

asked on December 5, 2023

I'm working on migrating Audit Trail 10 to AT11. Currently Audit Trail is running on the same server as Web Client, I'd like to create a separate dedicated server for Audit Trail as part of this migration.  I have 12 repositories so the Audit Trail LFFTS Catalog Files will require a decent amount of space.

I'm wondering if these LFFTS Catalog Files can be configured to be on a Windows DFS network file share?

We ran into a problem with trying to locate the repository LFFTS Search files on Windows DFS network file shares and the LFFTS service would lock up.  So we had to locate the LFFTS Search files on the LFS Server's local disk to solve this problem.

Would we expect the same problem with the Audit Trail LFFTS Catalog Files?

I'd like to use the Windows DFS network shares to take advantage of our redundant storage architecture and to avoid needing to have a huge local drive configured for the server to store the catalog files.

Audit Trail 11 supports using UNC paths (file shares) for its LFFTS search catalog directories. You would probably expect the same DFS-related problem though. I don't believe there's any fundamental difference to LFFTS between a repository search catalog and an Audit Trail one.
