Question

Exclusive Gateway / Conditional Expressions

asked on November 30, 2023

I am working on a laserfiche form. I used the "address field" for buisness and home address. However I would like to "Accept or Reject" the application if the Home Address in not a certain state.

So far I have tried an exclusive gateway, inclusive gateway and just not getting it to go as needed.

Just curious if anyone else has ever done this or if I need to create "individual fields" for the Home address to compare what is entered in as State.

I usually create my own fields for all the address particulars for this reason, so I can evaluate a single field. I haven't used the address field in years because it is difficult to evaluate one of the components.

I also use my own fields to create addressing/locations. My reasoning is that I rarely need anything bigger than city, and so city is 98% of the time going to be "salem" so, I really then capture a street location which gets me down to 2 fields.

I do not like having to force the user to fill in country every submission!

In the data you can easily concatenate the location data attributes to make a mailing address or such as necessary.

I have never use the built in Address piece, it is cumbersome and doesn't do well with what you may want to do with the data after the fact.  I think I saw Laserfiche mention its something they plan to improve but @Suzanne Wels, you are better creating your own fields and using the variables from the State field you create.

Thanks everyone!  I went ahead and created my own fields. Then did a drop down for the States.

Didn't take long to swap it all and get it setup and working as we would like!!

Thanks for the suggestions

Suzanne
