Question

Forms version 11 no longer takes you to required field on submit?

asked on November 2, 2023

We noticed a change in Version 11 that seems to have removed a useful feature.

In the past if I click submit on a web form with required fields left blank, it moves my anchor to the first empty required field I forgot to fill out and marks it red.

Now it only marks it red, off screen, making the Submit button appear to be in a broken state.

I tested on both the classic and new designer forms and see the same result.

Hi Chad,

I cannot reproduce what you described. I did a simple test on both new and classic forms with pagination. When I submit from second page, for classic form, it will force me back to first page and focus on the required field, for new form, it display error directly on the top of the page and highlight the first page have errors. and what does it mean "The Submit button appear to be in a broken state"? The submit button is ok for me to click all the time.

If you feel it's hard to describe, I'd recommend you to open a support case, telling us the exact Forms version, providing us a business process to reproduce. It would be nicer if you can attach a video to illustrate as well.

Here is a video showing how it used to work, compared with how it is working now. The interesting thing is this was recorded using 2 systems both on version 11.0 but with different builds.

Maybe it is down to a specific build.

It works on Professional Version 11.0.2307.40547

It does not work on Professional Version 11.0.2212.30987

Are you using Forms 11 or 11.4?  Aren't there updates past 11.0?  Could that be the issue?  Just asking because we are getting ready to upgrade to 11.

There are not. There is Forms 11 Update 1, 2, 3, and 4 though, but they do not translate to 11.1, 11.2, 11.3, and 11.4.

11.0 is the latest version, but it seems this might be an issue with build 11.0.22x specifically

I will try to get 11.0.23x installed to see if it resolves it. If that is the case, then the latest 11.0 download would not have the issue since it is a 23x build

Thank you, Blake.  So, since we will be doing this now, can we start with the 11 4 update or do we have to build up to it?  So what Chad is saying if we do the latest, we should be good?

What is your Windows server OS version if you don't mind me asking?

Robin, you can update directly to 11 4 which has a lot of fixes.

The latest build did not resolve it, but confirmed it is working correctly on other systems so something else is causing this. Went ahead and opened a support case.
