Laserfiche forms - Database Views Look up rules

asked on November 2, 2023

we're trying to upgrade to LF forms version 11 and after installing, our look up rules for viewing a list of contractors and employees is empty.  does anyone have a similar experience?

did you verify the connection in the Forms Admin Data Sources is viable?

I have never seen this happen with a version 11 upgrade. The lookup rules you created in the lookup rules tab of the forms designer are missing across every form or just 2 specific rules are suddenly missing?

when upgrading to version 11, the look up rules are there-that part transferred over, but when the user is pulling up the list to select their vendors or employee when trying to submit a form, its empty.  since we couldn't figure out why the views didnt show up, we had to roll back to LF forms 10.4.

I noticed that your database source is named DB-LFForms2. It might be possible that your referencing the database which Forms runs off of, which is the same database your updating, this could be why your running into trouble.

The database schema changes with software updates as the software evolves. This is the drawback of pulling data directly from the database, you must account for this and make sure you check for any schema changes with each update.

A commonly requested feature is for Laserfiche to be able to lookup it's own user accounts in both Forms and Workflow, so I know this is a common workaround that many customers do, but it's still a direct lookup to the database, which is bypassing the software entirely.

Hi Liza,

Are you able to setup a test environment and reproduce this issue? This sounds like a severe issue if it can be reproduced steadily, and I'd recommend once you are able to reproduce it, open a support case for it immediately instead of reverting back the version. You can also do some basic checks first, like if the data source connection is still valid or not, if any errors in your browser when DevTools open when lookup done.

Currently have our VARs look into this issue but its been over 5 months now.  just thought maybe someone else ran into a similar issue.  Unfortunately, we do not have a test environment to reproduce the issue.  I've made copies of our database and the sql views and sent that over to our VARs so they can replicate the issue on a version 11 environment.  Still have not heard back.  The data source connection is valid when we upgraded. there were no errors.
