limit radio field to three

I would like to make a radio field on a form have a list of items, but it should only allow three items to be picked. Is there a way to do this?

I believe you can accomplish this with checkboxes and javascript to limit the number of selections to 3.  Here's another post I found that has more details on the script side: https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/100903/Limit-Checkbox-selection-number#164712

Mary, a radio button field will only show the options to the end user that the form creator adds to it.
