I'll open a ticket with my VAR, but this is here for anyone else that sees this issue.

   



This returns the first character of the string in that table cell. If I adjust the row number to 2, 3, 4, 5, etc, the individual letters of the string show up. 

^when row = 1 the complete string is "Janelle"

This is pulling from a table that does not exist on the form where the formula resides, so it is interesting that it is actually pulling any data at all. The single character part of it is just strange.
