Announcing End-of-Support for Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2

posted on October 12, 2023

Platform: Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2

Customers affected: Self-hosted and Laserfiche Cloud

End of support: October 10, 2023

Microsoft ended support for Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 on October 10, 2023. On the same date, Laserfiche ended troubleshooting support for Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 running Laserfiche software.

This policy change will continue to be applied moving forward, meaning that when the manufacturer ends extended support for a particular operating system, we will end support for Laserfiche software on that operating system.

We encourage all customers to consider moving to newer operating systems to avoid any unsupported security vulnerabilities associated with these older operating systems.

For customers who have a contract in place with the manufacturer for the extended security update program for operating systems that are out of extended support, Laserfiche will evaluate what’s needed to continue to support your deployment and provide you with a custom quote.

We’re making this decision to provide a better experience to customers. For more information about the Laserfiche End-of-Life Policy, visit the Product Announcements Group.

If you have a Laserfiche system with Windows Server 2012/R2, strongly consider migrating to Windows Server 2022 rather than Windows Server 2019 if that's an option in your organization.

Windows Server 2019 has a Mainstream Support End Date of Jan 9, 2024, only several months from now. The Extended Support (security updates only) end date is five years later, Jan 9, 2029.

Mainstream support for Windows Server 2022 ends in October 2026 instead, with security updates for another five years after that.
