Problem importing pdfs with import agent (10.4.0.71)

We have been using import agent to add pdf files to the repository for several months. Just in the couple of weeks, we have encountered a problem (I'm not sure the exact date the problem began). Import agent reads the pdf and places them in the repository in the correct location. The problem is the files are not readable. When I open the document in the repository, there is no image and the text looks like what I would see if I opened the document in Notepad.

For example:

The first document in an import folder is an identity page. It contains one line of text that looks like this:

After import agent processed it performed OCR, the Text contained this (plus several more unreadable line):

I don't think I missed anything in my IA profile because it has been working correctly for months. All of our employee payroll files were scanned and processed through import agent. Once in the repository they were processed through  workflow that separated them into the appropriate sub-folder under each employee.

 

Has anyone else had a similar problem or can point in a direction to solve this issue?

Problem is solved. When I looked at the file conversion list in Laserfiche, pdf was not listed. However, thanks to another post on this site, I went to Options under the Profile tab in Import Agent and found a conversion list that included pdf. Once I remove pdf from that list and restarted import agent, everything worked.

Log into Laserfiche as the user specified in the connection profile for Import Agent and look at File Conversion list under Options. Is PDF listed there? If yes, take it out and the restart Import Agent.

PDF was not listed in the file conversion list. We have been using import agent for months. We processed over 1400 employee folders containing over 45000 documents with no problems. All of the documents were imported and stored as pdf's. This problem just started in the last couple of weeks.

I've had a similar problem, except it was creating a 300+ page Laserfiche document from a one page pdf.  I removed it from the list and it's back to one page!
