Question

Schedule OCR via Workflow

asked on September 20, 2023 Show version history

We have set up our DCC successfully, it connects.  We are able to successfully publish a workflow with a Schedule OCR activity and when we process documents using that workflow, it indicates that the activities all completed successfully.  However, text in the documents processed are not searchable?  I expected in the DCC setup to indicate a time to process them, there was no option for that. When should we expect documents processed using OCR to have the searchable text?  The documents being imported to LF are in PDF format with "generate pages" set by default, but we want to selectively choose which documents to have searchable text using the OCR Scheduler with workflow.

p.s. we are on v11 and just installed the most recent Workflow patch this morning.

What does your DCC show? Is it showing that it received the documents and processed them?

I can't figure out where to see what actually hit the DCC.  I am going only off of the fact that it shows it was successfully scheduled in the workflow results.  Would you explain where I can see the documents in DCC?

I was unable to see the cluster after adding it via the Web Admin Console and therefore unable to troubleshoot, however, our IT director was able to troubleshoot through PowerShell @ the server level.  All is well now.

It might be worth walking through the documentation to get a better understanding of how the DCC works. There is also a Troubleshooting section that could be of some help.

The scheduling of the workflow is done by the Starting Rule for the workflow you created.

The workflow starts, completes, does as expected with all starting rules in place, the workflow status shows the OCR Scheduler completed as a workflow task - no searchable text.
