Question

Can't Move Files Into Records Series Folder

asked on August 29, 2023

I'm very new to using Laserfiche as an admin and am sort of getting a crash course in how everything works. I'm in Records Management, so as part of the function of our office it's very important that we be able to utilize the RM functions in Laserfiche.

However, I'm running into a big problem that is preventing me from creating the structure I need for this new repository we're trying to build - I can't move files into a record series folder. I've checked permissions (both my own and on the folder), I've checked settings. I know it can be done because we have another department that incorporates moving files from an intake folder to a record series folder into their primary workflow (exactly what I'm trying to do), but when I try to put a new file into the test series folder I created, manually or via workflow, it just...won't. I'm sure I must be missing something obvious, but I'm stumped. What should I be looking for to solve this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

You would have to have a folder or record folder below a record series. You cannot have a file or document alone inside the record series, it must be inside a folder or record folder.

Thank you for the response! That would certainly explain it. I'll test to make sure I don't run into any other issues.

@████████, I would recommend looking at doing the Laserfiche RM certification.

Apologies for the delay, but I can verify that this was the issue! Thank you so much again Ingeborg.

And Blake, thank you for the suggestion! I would love to do that certification sometime, though of course it depends on funding.

I would talk to your Solution Provider. They can sometimes cover the cost for you.
