DMZ Forms server slow to load design process, design forms and lookups

asked on August 24, 2023 Show version history

For the Forms instance in the DMZ, Client is encountering painful slow loading times especially when they attempt to load a Forms Business process design to edit it. This may take about a minute to upwards of 3 minutes to load. Attempting to load a form in the Design tab also takes upwards of 45 secs to complete.

When you start a Form that has a lookup rule, it takes a while to load the data for those rules to the point that it takes about two minutes for each data column.

When the same items mentioned above are accessed through the internal forms server, the load times are almost instant.

Both Forms instances share the same database. I know in Forms 11 you can set up a lookup proxy to use the internal Forms instance for lookup. Unfortunately Client is on Forms 10.4.5.

Basically it seems that any Forms process that involves database query runs very slowly.

Any ideas or suggestions on how to troubleshoot this issue or a potential solution will be highly appreciate.

Thank you in advance!

I think the first step would be to look at the specs/performance on the host server and the network traffic between the DMZ server and the internal servers (both the database and the Forms server running the routing service).

Thank you Jason. The Client's Network Engineer looked at the traffic between the DMZ server and Database and didn't find anything. This setup is currently using a single Forms server in the DMZ configuration.

Also, Forms with data lookup, take considerable time to load up the information, upwards of 2+ minute each field.
