Check out updates and new features in the August Cloud release:

AI-Powered Regular Expression Builder

Laserfiche is embracing a new era of computing and productivity by adding generative AI to help users with their regular expressions. Regular expressions, commonly called regexes, have been a core part of Laserfiche design for years. The new Regular Expression Builder has been added to the Forms layout designer to help designers build and troubleshoot regular expressions.

This Regular Expression Builder uses artificial intelligence to translate the designer’s natural language description into a regular expression or interpret an existing regular expression. This reduces design and troubleshooting time for forms, enables non-experts to take advantage of regular expressions, simplifies the understanding of complex regular expressions and provides clear explanations as to why a specific phrase fails to meet the required pattern of the regular expression.

Preview Forms at Every Stage

Designers can now easily preview and test the behavior of field rules at any stage in a process without needing to run the entire process. When previewing a form, a set of dropdown menus is displayed, letting designers select the desired process stage and step. Changing these dropdown values triggers the re-evaluation of field rules, modifying the form's behavior accordingly, just as it would in the actual process flow. This feature also displays the proper submission actions determined by the process, providing designers with an accurate representation of their form's appearance and functionality, so they can easily verify exactly what submitters will see at every step.

Troubleshooting Business Processes

This release simplifies troubleshooting, a key aspect of building business processes with a number of enhancements.

User tasks for in-progress or completed instances can now be directly restarted from the instance details page. This is helpful in cases where a user task needs to be resumed due to other issues in the process.

To more easily troubleshoot and fix issues at the instance level, new action buttons have been added to the instance details and instance graph page of an in-progress instance. This can be accessed via the Monitor and Report pages and allows retrying, skipping, interrupting, stopping or refreshing the problematic instance.

Process administrators can now manually update a file upload variable value for in progress instances by deleting and adding new files to the value which can be useful when there is a concern with the original upload.

Salesforce Migration to Laserfiche Template

Storing documents in Salesforce is expensive and Laserfiche offers a more affordable storage solution without compromising use of the Salesforce system. A new, templated process in the Laserfiche Marketplace serves as an example for migrating content from Salesforce to Laserfiche using workflow and built-in integration tools.

Additional Released Features

Automatic Mobile Responsiveness

Forms created using the layout designer now display mobile-responsive layouts without the need for manual customization. This new feature dynamically collapses side-by-side fields, tables and collections into stacked fields, ensuring optimal display when used on mobile devices. All new forms have this automatically enabled and existing forms can be manually enabled.

File Upload Previews

Users can now quickly preview uploaded files by clicking the eye icon. Forms can also be set to display uploaded files directly as thumbnails.

Pagination and Validation Updates

When applying pagination to Forms, page headings can be displayed as either tabs, a dropdown or a progress bar. Designers can choose whether to show or hide previous and next page buttons and if submission actions like reCAPTCHA, action buttons and comment boxes should be displayed on every page. Additionally, validation can now be enforced on each page before proceeding to the next page of the form.

Geolocation Metadata

Forms can now set the repository location metadata for documents when they are saved to the repository. This allows information captured with a Forms geolocation field, such as where the form was filled out or where attachments were uploaded, to be used in searches within the repository.

Searching Within Tables and Collections

Tables and collections can be searched on when submitted a form, bringing up the relevant rows based on a specific search term and helping users filter through large datasets.

Limit File Sizes for Upload

A maximum file size can be set that encompasses all files within a file upload to let you manage and control the cumulative size of uploaded files.

Checkbox, Radio and Dropdown Enhancements for Large Lists

Lists of labels, values, and default selections can now be bulk imported from CSV files, saving time and eliminating the need for manual data entry.

Radio buttons and checkboxes can now be set to convert into dropdowns when the number of items reaches a specified limit to present a large quantity of choices to users in a clear easily filterable manner.

 Additional Business Process Feature

Additional flexibility saving files and action histories to the repository and process designer have additional options when saving the process action history and uploaded files to the repository.

Workflow Instance Information

Users can highlight to copy and paste information from a workflow instance to allow for easier extraction of data from a workflow instance or troubleshooting without needing to re-type information.
