Question

international characters in LF Cloud

asked on July 23, 2023

Does anyone know how to setup LF cloud so that it shows international characters? (e.g. acción instead of accin or año instead of ao  or like in the attached image where <I have a FIELD named  Acto Juridico with a value that shows "Protocolizacin Acta Asamblea" where it should be "Protocolización Acta Asamblea"

I´ve searched Admin guide and LF; my account´s regional settings and language are set to Spanish as well as my browser but I just can´t get it to display them correctly. Any help will be appreciated

Hi Javier,

The lst file should be saved as Unicode instead of ANSI. BTW, the sample lst files and xml files in Import Agent installation directory (IA version 10.3.1 or later)  are using Unicode encoding, the default path for them is here: C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Import Agent\List File Examples.

Thanks,

Qinmei

Laserfiche Cloud does not require customization to render those characters. How is that data set into the fields?

the fields are input into Laserfiche via an LST file that is deposited along with the scanned documents in a folder supervised by Import Agent. Once in Laserfiche (they have the documents and the fields ALREADY filled in, since it came from an LST)  a workflow runs on them to put those in their final destination.

A sample of the LST file follows:

LASERFICHE IMPORT LIST

DOCUMENT(1)

STARTFIELDS

GRUPO XXX

1

Sesión Consejo de Administración

Grupo XXX de XXX

S/N

2016-11-22 00:00:00

Grupo XXX de XXX antes YYY

Lista de Asistencia y Acta firmadas

1

ENDFIELDS

STARTLIST

C:\BatchesPro\PAQUETE 1 - 17\00000001.tif

ENDLIST

DOCUMENT(2)

STARTFIELDS

… etc.

In the example above the word "Administración" (the one bold and underlined in row 6) from the LST file is shown in the fields in LF Cloud as "Administracin" and the same for all other international (Spanish) characters: á,é,í,ó,ú,ñ etc.

This does not happen at all, with the same files, in On Premise LF.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Well, it happened that both Miruna and Qinmei were right.
Laserfiche Cloud does not require customization as it does not  change any characters in any step; Nor does any browser; and,

lst files were encoded as ANSI from the origin and although international characters looked alright when opened in notepad, they were wrongfully interpreted when they were input to LF Cloud. The solution was as easy as using Save As in Notepad and change encoding to UTF-8 (Unicode). Also, to prevent this from happening again, the predetermined encoding in the computers producing the LST files was changed to UTF-8 as well, instead of ANSI.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
