Question

Cloud Public Portal search HTML for a different website

asked on July 12, 2023

HI All, I have a question from a Cloud client. She wants to put a search box on her town website, that will search their LF Public Portal.

She's asking for the HTML code to do that. She's done something similar with their Library. In the upper right hand corner there's a Catalog search option, that will run a search in their library software's catalog. https://ma-littleton.civicplus.com/160/Library

She wants to know the HTML to do the same for her public portal. Anyone have any ideas here?

TIA,

Mike

You just need to take the user's input and build an appropriate url to communicate the search information to Public Portal. This article was written about self-hosted WebLink, but the part about the "searchcommand" parameter is the same. Here's an example of searching a for "budget" in one Cloud customer's repository.

Hey Brian,

What is the id=342681 in that URL a reference to? Trying to do something similar but not sure what that part of the URL is. In my own testing, it looks like an entry ID, yet the search in that URL returns multiple entries, so I'm not understanding what that's for.

It's not necessary, I think it was already in url I started building from. I've removed it.

Thank you, Brian! I think your example was great. I converted it to use this client's repo number, and I think they can make it work from there. Thanks again!
