is there a way to have the File upload attachment to be merged with the starting form, i thought there was an option for that but i could be wrong.

Answer
You have to convert the attachments into TIFF and use Workflow to find and merge them together. However, if the attachments are not in Word or PDF, automatically converting them to TIFF is not possible without using the SDK.
Thanks Michelle. I think you helped me with merging files back when i use to work at rancho cucamonga. I believe the attachments we have now are PNG, JPEG, docx and PDF. I'm not sure if the org i work with now have SDK.. i'll have to look around and see what i can find. thankyou!

If I’m understanding your question correctly…
When populating the details on the Save to Repository activity, you’ll be able to select either a form from a specific task or a form with current variables. As long as you select a form that has the upload fields on it, the attachment(s) will be included in the archival, and will each have a separate tab for configuring settings and fields.
I often will have an “archival” copy of the form that ensures all info is shown, even stuff that was not included in particular steps of the process, so even if various upload fields exist only on certain forms/tasks, the archival version (with it set to current values) has all of the upload fields, so everything is archived.
Editing my response due to the re-wording of your question: Can you elaborate on what you mean by merging the attachment with the starting form?
Are you asking about displaying the upload on the form body? If so, then Forms 11 has an option to display a thumbnail of the upload if it is an image. If it's not an image that this wouldn't work, it would just show a link to the file.
Yes i had to reword my question, seems like there are a few people who asked the same question but there were no clear responses. what i'm trying achieve is i would like the ability for users to click the saved form and be able to scroll down and see the uploads attached to the bottom of the form. Is there a way to merge the form with the uploads being attached to the bottom when a users is viewing the form? I know theres a preview, but is there a way to fully merge the attachment to the form when saving it in the repository?
No, there is no out of the box solution to do that. Sorry.
Hi Liza,
I've had some success in doing this. What I usually do is assign the submission ID to a field value on each document you're saving to the repository - the form itself and any uploads. Then have a workflow configured to act on the uploads when they're submitted. The workflow would look for the form with the same submission ID, move pages from the upload document to the form document, and delete the upload document when done.
This will require your upload fields to only accept files that be turned into Laserfiche pages. The repository profile you use to save the documents into the repository must be configured to generate pages on PDFs if users will be uploading PDFs, otherwise pages won't get generated and you subsequently won't be able to move them to the form document.
I see in your screenshot you have a Word doc that you want to merge with the form - I don't think that's possible with out-of-the-box tools. If that was a PDF instead of a Word doc, I think you could get this done using Workflow. You could still use the submission ID to find and link the documents together, but you won't be able to merge them if the documents aren't composed of Laserfiche pages.
