Volume's Deleted

I recently deleted several volumes and I read that these documents do not get deleted right at that moment, but they are moved first and then deleted. Can you tell me where the deleted documents are moved to, or how to tell when the deletions process has completed. The average size of the volumes was 25.0mb.

Do you have a reference for where you read this? Because that more closely describes the process for deleting a single document. In that case, the document is marked for deletion but isn't deleted right away. When deleting a volume, it doesn't make sense to move documents before deleting them.
