How to Grant Access to LFDS and the Admin Console

asked on June 21, 2023

Hello,

I'm trying to grant my coworker access to our LFDS and to the Admin Console for the different repositories we have.  Also, are there different levels of access?  Is there any documentation out there or is someone willing to help?  Just not sure where to start.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

LFDS access documentation: https://doc.laserfiche.com/laserfiche.documentation/11/administration/en-us/Default.htm#../Subsystems/LFDS/Content/AccessControl.htm

Access to LFDS can be granted two ways:

  1. Grant access to all of LFDS by adding the user to a local machine Windows group: either machine administrators or the  Laserfiche Directory Service Administrators group that is created during the installation of the product
  2. Granted specific rights to registered users or groups through the "security" settings, which fall into three groups (see the documentation for more details)

Access to the administration console includes both repository-level security (e.g., create users, manage metadata settings) and server-level security (e.g., create repository). See https://doc.laserfiche.com/laserfiche.documentation/11/administration/en-us/Default.htm#../Subsystems/LFAdmin/Content/Overview_Security.htm for the related help files. I recommend starting on the "Key Concepts" page , which includes information such as:

System Managers

System Managers can perform Server-wide administrative tasks such as repository creation, but not administrative tasks within a repository. The system manager account also defines who can perform high-level administrative tasks, and you should carefully consider which users should be added as System Managers.
