Question

"Missing" Form Submissions

asked on May 26, 2023

We have around 400 forms in test and production, but there is one particular process we get questions about.  Is it at all possible for external clients to say they are in fact clicking the Submit button, but us having no record of it on our end?  Also, nothing is suspended or terminated.

I'm almost certain the answer is no and have already explained that to the department, but wanted to reach out just to be sure I wasn't missing something.

Thanks

I can't say with 100% certainty that anything is "impossible" since there are a lot of variables at play, but I will say that this sounds extremely unlikely.

The fact that it is being reported for one particular process also makes it more questionable.

If they are clicking the Submit button and actually making it to the subsequent page, whether that's the default "Thank You" page or a redirect, there absolutely should be some record of it.

If they are submitting and hitting some kind of error that prevents Forms from generating a new instance, they should see an error page, and you would likely have something in the logs.

In all the years I've been using Forms, every time someone has reported something like this it has turned out to be something else entirely after further investigation.

Thank you sir!  We've had some other issues in the past where forms where terminating when they were submitted, but we were still able to see the variables and were notified that something was going on, so it could be resolved.

We're pretty sure their is some confusion with the end users on this one, but just wanted to get another opinion.  I appreciate the response!
