Import Agent moving XML files to Repository

We have documents being scanned in to a network share drive.  The scan brings over an image file and an xml file.  The import agent picks it up and moves the image to the repository and applies the metadata from the XML file.  For some reason I am getting two images, one with the metadata and one with nothing.  What is causing the duplication of the image?

Check your import profile settings. One possibility is that your import profile is not configured with limitations on the file extensions, so it is pulling in the file independently and then again when it is pulling in the file as part of the XML file import.
