Publishing a Process to ALL Instances terminates the Instance

In LF Cloud, I was about to publish and update the process for all instances in progress and this is the message I received.

This is the first time I received such a WARNING message. Can anyone tell me why I am getting this message as I have never received it before when I was updating processes and applying it to ALL instances in the process.

Also, how do I mitigate this so that I can update existing instances with the new process?

Does the old version of the process include steps that no longer exist in the new version?

If the "In Progress" instances are unable to move to the next step in the new process, those instances will terminate.
