Workflow Schedule OCR

asked on May 4, 2023 Show version history

Hi, can someone tell me how to use the Workflow Schedule OCR activity? I'm trying to OCR pdf documents that Laserfiche forms process is saving to the repository. I have the settings set for any pdf be OCR'd when imported into the repository but that only works for specific pdf's not all. Manually I can OCR those documents but I would like to automate the process.

thank you,

Lucinda

That activity requires a Distributed Computing Cluster.

Do you have that set-up already?  If not, you may want to speak with your Solution Provider about it.

I don't believe we do. I spoke with MCCi and they said I could do this by creating a Quick Fields session.

thank you

They are correct that you can use Quick Fields to OCR documents, but you would need a QF license if you don't already have one. If I remember correctly, DCC licensing is included with Avante and Rio.

We do have the license so I'm reading up on it to see how to set up the session. Are you able to set up a session for documents added to a specific folder in the repository and set by entry created date?

You can point it at a repository folder and filter based on file type. I'm not sure if you can filter by date though. I would have to log into my system and check.

Yes, you can use search criteria when Quick Fields retrieves documents from the repository with Laserfiche Capture Engine.

Got it. It helps to know I can OCR a specific folder. I wanted to OCR the document as it was saved to the repository by Forms but was told that was not possible.
