Question

PDF Toolbar within Document Viewer

asked on April 25, 2023

Hello Everyone,

I am learning to use Laserfiche and have been following the training videos.

I noticed that when I try to use the standard tool bar buttons (circled in red below) to annotate and do redactions, they do not work.

Instead, the buttons at the top of the PDF (in green) work instead.

Can anyone explain how I can get the standard tool bar to work when I have a document open in Laserfiche client?

Thanks!

The standard toolbar can only be used to edit documents in Laserfiche's native format, which is tif. Office documents, PDF's, etc. must be edited using a program that can edit those types of documents. For PDFs you can install a PDF editor like Adobe Acrobat to be able to edit directly in Laserfiche.

For Office documents,  Laserfiche supports previewing Office documents (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) in the Web Client with the included Laserfiche Document Preview Service.

Laserfiche also offers an integration with Microsoft Office 365 which allows you to easily edit Microsoft Office documents (Word, Excel, or PowerPoint) on the web directly from the Laserfiche document viewer. This allows you to multiple users to individually or simultaneously coauthor documents, enabling a streamlined experience to collaboratively produce and edit content. The Laserfiche integration with Microsoft Office 365 utilizes the Microsoft Office Online Server and the Laserfiche Document Coauthoring Host so that Microsoft Office can work with installations of Laserfiche.

The Microsoft Online Server licensing is not included with your Laserfiche system and you must purchase the licensing from Microsoft.

Is there anyway I can convert this PDF document into a Tiff file so I can use the standard toolbar instead?

Thanks!
