Annotation - Weblink

asked on April 7, 2023

Can weblink provide the user with a list of annotations as shown below for the whole document?

In the Laserfiche Desktop client, I can see a list of annotations in the annotations pane for a multi-page document and jump to that page when I click on one.

I’m interested in providing this same functionality to our public web users.

We are currently using Weblink 9 and I don’t see this functionality.  Can Weblink 11 do this?

In Weblink 9, it looks like only the annotations for the single page that is being used are displayed to the user. Here for example is that same document on page 18 where only the one annotation on this page can be seen.

To start, you should upgrade WebLink since version 9 products have been end of life on support since December 31, 2021.

To answer your question about seeing a list of annotations in WebLink 11, yes, it does display a list:

Just to clarify on the images that were posted: the two photos are from different applications.  The first one that lists many text box annotations is a partial screenshot from the desktop Laserfiche Client 10.4.  The second screenshot is from the Weblink client where the user viewing a page clicks the annotations tab and shows the single annotation on page 18.  The annotations on weblink seem limited to just the page you are viewing not spanning all pages of the document.

The user wants to be able to see a list of annotations that are on the document and then be able to jump to that annotation on that page. For example, if there are 8 pages and the display annotations toggle switch is on, he would want to see the annotations listed like the picture above(from the post) and be able to select a specific annotation from the list and jump to that page. Does Weblink 11 display a list and allow the user to select the annotation and take them to that page? Thank you.
