Question

Possible to use Laserfiche to convert .tif to .pdf

asked on March 30, 2023

Is it possible to convert tiff files that have already been scanned into Laserfiche to pdf's, without having to backtrack?  Maybe by either using Workflow or Quickfields?

Also, what are some "pros" of having them in pdf format other than the default tiff?

Thank you

From what I can tell you would need the SDK to "export" them out of the Laserfiche system to do that.

There aren't any. Laserfiche is built to work best with TIFFs.

It might help to understand why you are exploring saving TIFFs to PDF. Are you trying to convert existing pages to electronic documents? If so, why? Or are you trying to save as PDF upon download? If saving upon download, select "Download Images" and choose PDF as the file type, or alternatively use your favorite print to PDF app.

We are trying to do similar thing to convert tiff to pdf. Is it possible to do this via SDK without exporting out of Laserfiche system? like use SDK to export and replace the original tiff?

I can't speak to the effectiveness or cost of the product listed, I've never used it.

But I noticed this post today: https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/217130/Whats-new-in-the-Laserfiche-Solution-Marketplace#repliestomain includes mention of a "Workflow Activity Bundle" that says it includes a tool that can "Create a PDF entry from EML, MSG, Word, Excel, JPG and TIFF" among several other things.

Yes, I am trying to convert existing pages to electronic documents to save on image cost. We get charged based on number of images in the repository.
