How to hide the draw signature option for a signature field in the new forms designer

asked on March 24, 2023 Show version history

Created a few forms in the new forms (version 11) designer that have the signature box on them.  Would like to disable the option for drawing a signature.  I have found a lot of options for doing this using Javascript and CSS in the classic designer but have not found anyway to do it in the new forms designer.  Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi Steven,

Currently there is no way to achieve this in the New Designer. There has been feature request for this and it is on our planned list.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Unfortunately, I don't think you are going to be able to do this in the New Designer.

Javascript is definitely out of the question.  The New Designer runs any custom Javascript that you add within a sandboxed iFrame, so it cannot access or modify components of the form/fields/window/document directly, it can only access the form components included in the LFForm interface.

I don't have as straight of an answer regarding the CSS.  But I don't think it'll work either.  The modal dialog for the signature exists in a different area of the DOM than the actual form.  And unfortunately, I don't think the custom CSS has been set-up in a way that allows it to modify the components in that part of the DOM.  I've tried a bunch of different things and never had any success.

Unless a future update adds functionality to dictate whether or not the signature can be forced to drawn or typed, then I think you're stuck using the Classic Designer if this is a requirement for your process.

I'm sorry.
