Audit Trail - Copy Pages (To or From not specified)

asked on March 23, 2023 Show version history

When looking at the Pages datapoints in Audit Trail and comparing the total pages of the document the events do not add up to what we see.

For example Audit Trail says that the document was created with 2 pages and no page events happened ever since.

However the document has many more than 2 pages now and version control shows that workflow added many pages since creation.

Does Copy Pages not encompass both Copy Pages To and Copy Pages From events? Is it only listing copy pages from and ignoring all copy pages to events?

Hi, Chad,

Could you check if page events of the workflow user is being audited? You can do this on Laserfiche Administration Console by:

  1. Select the desired Laserfiche repository.
  2. Expand the Users and Groups item.
  3. Click the workflow user.
  4. From the Action menu, click Properties. The User Properties dialog box will appear.
  5. Switch to tab Auditing and check the audited events.

The Copy Pages audit event contains both source document (Copy Pages From) and target document (Copy Pages To) of the copy action. If you are using Laserfiche Audit Trail 11, you should see two resources in column "Resource" of the audit report.

Here is a screenshot from IT. Looks good to me. They are heavy on auditing.

I looked at this with them yesterday and audit trail says Create Page 1 and Create Page 2 as the only page events while the document has 15 or so pages. They do not have a time range set on audit trail, it is simply last 90 days (so that is not the reason we would be missing events).

The only conclusion there could be, is that it does not audit Copy To events.

Looks like we need to collect more info to find out history of the pages. I think a support case is needed to investigate further.
