Forms "In Progress" Issue, Forms Reporting

I cannot provide photos because of sensitive information so I will try to be as concise as possible. I have a customer who successfully completed a business process but months after completion when running a report on "In Progress" processes the completed process shows "In Progress". When looking through the information, no tasks have been rejected. Everything about the process was completed like it was supposed to. We have restarted the forms routing process and reran the search and got the same results. The customer has noted that the form in question has been changed multiple times in the past few months, but this is the first time he has gotten this result. Why would a form show "In Progress" months after completed?

Which version of Forms are they on?

Have you checked within the process from the Monitor page to see if there is some secondary path that is still active?  I have several process that have a timed event from certain user tasks that branch to an email task and end.  Several times I've seen one of the email tasks stuck while the main process continued on until completion.  I don't think I've seen that since upgrading to version 11 however (which is part of the reason I asked about the version).

V11 update 2(they upgraded a month ago)

 

They looked at the monitor page and it doesn't seem to be hanging on any tasks or communications.

I wonder if it got hung up before the upgrade.  I definitely saw a few (rare) situations back when I was on version 10 of things getting stuck like that.

If everything in the instance is complete - maybe they just want to do the action to cancel it from the Monitor page.  It's a bummer to show Cancelled instead of Complete - but that might be preferrable to showing In Progress when it is Complete.  If they absolutely need it to show Complete, you might have to open a case with Laserfiche, because I'm guessing it can't be resolved without intervention at the database level.

Or, one last idea...  If they upgrade to 11 Update 3, it added a functionality to restart a completed user task (as long as it's not in a subprocess), which would allow them to restart the last user task in the process and re-complete it.  Hopefully, it would reevaluate the status of the entire instance and end up showing it as Complete at that point.  The downside here is that it will complete all actions after that task (like Workflows and Send to Repository activities), so depending on the configuration of the process, that may or may not be a good idea in this case.

When you view a specific instance history tab, every single activity shows status Completed?

Hi Codi,

It was possible that the instance was stuck in progress with hidden active steps like merging gateway. Can you try the following for the instance:

  • Go to instance monitoring page
  • Right click on this instance and choose skip or interrupt
  • It should show a dialog listing available steps to skip or interrupt. If there is a gateway you may try skip it

 

If there is no active step for action, that would be complicated as it may have many cause, like the instance was stuck before "Complete" was calculated. You may open a support case and provide more info so we could check it.
