Delete open document in Web Client

asked on March 16, 2023 Show version history

Is there a command or option somewhere to delete a document that I have open in the Web Client? I have a process where users can request files to be deleted because they can't do it themselves and, depending on the type of record and the country processing it, various approvals may be required.

This part of the process works well and includes a link back to the record. However, once it opens, there appears to be no way to delete it. Folders can get fairly large so just linking to the folder wouldn't be good enough. Is there a way to delete the record that is open in the viewer?

There isn't a built-in delete button to add to the toolbar. You could add a custom action that grabs the entry id and deletes it. It's an easy application of a custom action, but does require the whole custom action infrastructure.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Thanks, Brian.

@████████ I might bug you about this when I try to figure it out next week.

Finally getting back to this and am having trouble just getting started. I have numerous custom actions in place, but they all appear to be more interacting with elements already on the screen, not doing SDK-style calls.

I tried to use the help, but it still references custom XML files rather than the (not so) new JavaScript interface in the Options menu. Is there a good "getting started" guide? I'm not having luck tracking one down.

Again, CC: @████████

Decided to go a different route. Instead of sending a link to the document, I send a link to search for the document by its Entry ID. Since only 1 will return, it will open automatically and can be reviewed. Then they close that tab and delete it from the search results tab.
