Cloud Forms Save to Repository task - Geolocation

asked on February 28, 2023

Hi all,

In on-premise Forms, there is the option to take geolocation variables from the Form and add them to the Location metadata of the saved form and attachments - which is super handy.

However this feature (circled) seems to be missing from Cloud. Am I missing something? Is there a setting somewhere that I have missed or is this just currently omitted from Cloud?

It is a missing feature for Cloud, we will look into it.

Can you share with us you use case for the location property of the document saved from Forms?

Yes absolutely:

  1. The client has several site location inspection and incident report Forms - filled in by the user on a physical work site or location,
  2. We have the Geolocation field auto-populate from the user's current location (they use mobile devices).
  3. In the Form itself they can 'add photos' in a Table element, for evidence of the inspections they are doing (e.g. photos of something hazardous; damage etc) - each added photo/file (File Upload) also has its own geocoordinates.
  4. When the submission plus attachments hit the repository, they are routed to relevant folders for inspection/incident report etc - but at the moment we can't fill in the Location metadata field automatically.
  5. If we can get the Form Submission pdf and the attachments to have the geocoordinates then they can search by site location for previous incident submissions and photos from where they're standing etc.
  6. Sites can be very large (i.e many acres and/or kilometres in length); and can have many submissions over a long period of time - so this needs to be automated on submission -> repository. We don't want users to have to manually add the location later; nor have to build other workflows etc. The 'on premise' save to repository task would be ideal for us.

Thanks.

Any updates on this?  We have pretty much the same use case as Duncan described above.  I see the field in the cloud option but there is no indication of what to use to fill that in.

Hi David - yes this is now resolved, and you have the 'Location' field available in LF Cloud.

Add your geolocation here in the Save to Repository task.

You have to be using the 'Geolocation' field on your form to see the above variables.

Thanks for the reminder to update this!

Cheers,

Duncan
