Question

Assign records management properties retroactively after change

asked on February 24, 2023

A department in our city is wanting to change the retention period for a couple of their record series to a longer period of time.  Is there a way to have the change apply to all record folders in that series retroactively?  If so, how?

We are using Transparent Records Management and work through the Web Client.

You should be able to use the Set Records Management Properties action in Workflow to change the retention schedule for documents.

Yes, you can do this.  If you need to automate this as part of workflow, you can use the action, as Craig mentions.

Also, you can also do this by viewing the record properties tab of the record series, and change the retention schedule there.  At the bottom of the tab, you can select "apply changes to child record series and folder" to apply the change to all the series / folders nested "underneath" the record series.
