I am running Laserfiche 11.0 desktop client. A user complained that when they put a PDF into Laserfiche, it shows up looking compressed or squished. What causes this and how can we fix? To the user, this causes concern about using Laserfiche so I would love to figure out why and resolve.

Why does my PDF file look squished in Laserfiche?

I don't think Laserfiche is squishing the PDF. I believe what you are seeing is related to the zoom setting that is set. If I recall, Laserfiche by default sets the Zoom level to 'Page Width', which is what I believe you are seeing. You can zoom in using the +/- button on the toolbar or go to View-> Zoom-> and then choose another setting.
Thank you! I think you're on to something. None of the Zoom options display the document well but I am realizing that it's due to the original size of 36x24. I tried using Laserfiche Snapshot and selecting Shrink to Fit. That worked well, hopefully the Engineering team is supportive of this approach for retaining the document.
All of the display options should preserve the original aspect ratio. The "Fit to Width/Height/Window" options control how the desired zoom level should be determined, but once a zoom level is determined it should be applied to both the x and y direction in the same way, i.e. there shouldn't be any squishing. That's why I think the problem was introduced when the page was generated.
That's supported by your report that using Snapshot avoids the problem - Snapshot is an alternate method of generating image pages from the pdf, but in general the pages generated by the two methods should be largely similar. That there is a noticeable difference suggests the the first method didn't properly generate pages.
That makes a lot of sense. I reached out to CDI and asked them to submit a Support Ticket for us. Thank you for weighing in!
It looks like something went wrong when pages were generated from the pdf. I would suggest opening a support case so we can take a closer look.
