Question

Question

Web Access with multiple Laserfiche server

asked on February 20, 2023

Dears,

We have 5 Laserfiche servers and we plan to use Web Client instead of Laserfiche Client.

What is the recommended deployment plan for Web Client?

- To install Web Client 5 times in 5 different web servers? 1 web server for each LF server?

or

- To have one web server that will have 5 Web Client applications, each with different port?

or

-  Install IIS in each Laserfiche server, and to have Web Client installed in each LF server?

or there is another plan that is recommended by Laserfiche?

Another question; Is there a feature in Web Access that enables end-users to select which server they would like to connect to in the login page?

Thanks

Amir,

The recommended way would be what is best for your organization. A lot of that depends on how many users would be accessing each repository and what resource allocation you would be able to give each web server that has the Web Client installed on it.

Our organization has 3 servers with Web Client installed on them and has them in a Load Balancer. You can configure the Laserfiche Web Client to connect to multiple repositories by following instructions here. You will select the Default repository and that will be the repository that your Web Client URL will take you to by default (example: https://laserfiche.example.com/Laserfiche). If they log into the Default repository, they can switch repositories in the top right corner from a drop-down menu next to the user account name. Each repository also has a custom URL that goes along with it, and you can hand these URLs out to end users or put them on a landing page that has links to your various repositories (example: https://laserficheweb.example.com/laserfiche/Browse.aspx?repo=MyRepository).

If you are not using Directory Server for your logins, then the Web Client login page does provide a drop-down list of repositories to connect to as well, but I would recommend using Directory Server in most cases.
