Setting up Forms 11 Lookup proxy with Forms IIS Cluster and Forms Routing Cluster

asked on February 13, 2023

We have a client we are setting up to use the new IIS Cluster and Routing Cluster functionality. My question is regarding the feature added to use the Forms Routing Cluster as a proxy to perform SQL Lookups. When utilizing a set up like this, would we configure the Web.Config endpoint for lookup to point to The Forms Routing Cluster (assuming open 8174 port) or would we need to use the Primary Routing Cluster node as the lookup proxy?

You should configrue the web.config for the DMZ Forms server to point to the Forms Routing Cluster, same as port 8168.  When configure from node outside the Forms Routing Cluster, you should always point to the cluster not the node inside the cluster.

Okay thanks that makes sense.

As far as opening ports, for port 8174 (lookup) would that need to be opened from each node of IIS cluster to each node of Forms Routing Cluster in addition to opening the port to the Load Balancer? or would it still work opening the port only between the IIS cluster nodes and the forms routing cluster load balancer?

The lookup(8174) will be performed from the primary node of the forms routing cluster, you just do same configuration as lfrouting(8168).
