Retain Email Header Authentication Code

asked on February 6, 2023

In both desktop and web clients, Laserfiche refers to the the “header” as the Subject, To and From. When I move an email to Laserfiche, the format and some metadata is retained but the full header data is not retained. The information from the header that I’m referring to is  the authentication code embedded in the message that can be extracted in Outlook. Is there a setting to have Laserfiche retain the header data(authentication code)? When I look for the header in either client, I appears to be stripped.

No header -

Header from Webclient -

Header from Desktop Client -

Header from Outlook with authentication info:  -

In the Windows Client, you can go to Tools > Options > New Documents > Outlook, and dictate where all of the email properties are saved to the metadata fields.  I checked and I see options for Conversation ID and Unique Message ID.  I assume that is what you are referring to when you say "authentation code".

Why don't you play around with those settings to see if that will meet your requirements?

For mapping email properties to metadata fields, we wanted to include the most useful and universally-supported header values. So it is limited to things like Sender, Subject, Time Sent, etc. What kind of values are in your "authentication code" headers, and how do users find them useful?

As for finding the property "stripped", that shouldn't be the case. Even header values that aren't extracted to metadata fields are still viewable if you open the msg file itself.
