Question

Unprecedented Disk growth - Volume additions every ~45 minutes

asked on January 11, 2023

Lasaerfiche Rio V10.1.0.x on Windows server 2008 (I know) Since last week we have experienced unprecedented growth of our data partition to the point the drive filled up.  We have expanded the disk size twice (thank goodness for VMS!)  I have discovered that  2.5 Gb is being added roughly every 45 minutes to the Volume folders. Same file size every time. Server has been restarted.  Has anyone experience this?  A runaway process perhaps?

I appreciate any insight, thanks!

I would check Workflow for running instances and see if there is a workflow that has run away.

Same. If there is a workflow that is stuck in a loop that adds data somewhere in the process, it could balloon pretty quickly.

If you look at one of the entries, the Created By information should be strong clue.

Thanks!  A workflow step somewhere is posting the same photo over and over.  We are hunting it down!

If you have a runaway workflow because of a starting rule DO NOT DELETE the workflow as a fix. This will put your database in an unrecoverable state. Just disable the rule instead, after a few thousand more runs it should stop.
