Question

set event cutoff for retention

asked on December 14, 2022

Hello

I am setting up my retention cutoffs for events.

This an example of an event that I have created.  I have three codes that have the same cut off.  So I created a single event to cover all three codes.  Is this correct

I also need to understand what is the best way to set up the repository as I can only do this on record series.  I was thinking the following

Record Series - Current plus 12 months

Secondary would be a folder for each retention code that is kept for one year.

Am I on the right track or is there a better way to build out a repository  and cut offs

Thanks for any advise or assistanc.

The cutoff starts the retention period and the retention schedule specifies the duration of the retention period.  I wouldn't define the cutoff with the retention period.  For example, you might want to define "Complaint Closed" for another type of record with a different retention.  Also, I would define the retention periods based on record type so that if the retention of "Complaint" is changed by the record authority, you do not have to change all of the "Complaint" records to use a different retention, instead you would just change the instruction of the "Complaint" retention schedule.
